Dialogue 1
¿Qué día de la semana es hoy?
What day of the week is today?
¿No sabes qué día es hoy? Increíble.
You don’t know what day is today? Amazing.
Estoy de vacaciones y todos los días son iguales para mí: desayuno a las diez de la mañana, hago un poco de deporte, como, veo la tele, ceno y ya es la hora de ir a dormir. Y así todos los días.
I’m on holiday and all the days are the same for me: I have breakfast at 10 in the morning, practice sports, have lunch, watch TV, have dinner and it’s already time to go to sleep. And like that every day.
¡Qué vago eres! Pues hoy es viernes. Es mi día de la semana favorito.
How lazy you are! Well, today is Friday. It’s my favourite day of the week.
¿Y por qué te gustan los viernes?
And why do you like Fridays?
Porque mañana es sábado y no tengo que trabajar. Voy a dormir toda la mañana, hacer deporte, ir al cine y cenar con mis amigos.
Because tomorrow is Saturday and I don’t have to work. I’m going to sleep all morning, practice sports, go to the movies and have dinner with my friends.

Laura, ¿qué haces los fines de semana?
Laura, what do you do on weekends?
Los fines de semana trabajo. Por semana estudio en la universidad, y los fines de semana trabajo en un restaurante.
On weekends, I work. During the week, I study at the university, and on weekends, I work at a restaurant.
¿Y cuándo descansas?
And when do you rest?
Nunca descanso… Los lunes tengo clases de inglés. Los martes estudio literatura española. Los miércoles voy a la biblioteca. Los jueves tengo clases de alemán. Y los viernes hago los deberes. La verdad es que estoy muy cansada.
I never rest… On Mondays, I have English lessons. On Tuesdays, I study Spanish literature. On Wednesdays I go to the library. On Thursdays, I have German lessons. And On Fridays, I do the homework. To tell the truth, I’m very tired.
Tienes que descansar un poco.
You have to rest a little.
¿Cuándo? ¡No tengo tiempo!

Dialogue 3
Miguel, ¿sabes a qué hora tenemos que estar en el cine?
Miguel, do you know what time we have to be at the cinema?
No sé. ¿A qué hora empieza la película? ¿A las ocho?
I don’t know. What time does the movie start? At eight?
No, la película empieza a las siete. Y tenemos que comprar palomitas.
No, the movie starts at seven. And we have to buy popcorn.
No quiero comprar palomitas. No me gustan.
I don’t want to buy popcorn. I don’t like it.
¿No te gustan las palomitas? ¡Qué dices! Yo no voy al cine si no hay palomitas.
You don’t like popcorn? No way! I’m not going to the cinema if there is no popcorn.
De acuerdo… vamos a comprar palomitas para tí. Tenemos que estar en el cine a las seis y media.
Fine… we’ll buy popcorn for you. We have to be at the cinema at 6.30.

Mi día de la semana favorito
El sábado es mi día de la semana favorito porque es cuando empieza el fin de semana. Tengo dos días para descansar y no hacer nada. Soy muy vaga y me gusta dormir todo el día. Pero mi marido Juan no es como yo. ¡Qué pena!
My favourite day of the week
Saturday is my favourite day of the week because it’s the day when the weekend begins. I have two days to rest and to do nothing. I’m very lazy, and I like to sleep all day. But my husband Juan is not like me. What a pity!
Juán duerme poco. Le gusta desayunar a las siete de la mañana y hacer deporte.
– Laura, ¡ya es de día! – dice Juan.
– ¡Quiero dormir un poco más! – digo yo. – ¿No ves que estoy cansada?
Juan va a la playa a hacer deporte y yo duermo un poco más.
– ¿De verdad vas a dormir todo el día? – dice Juan que ya está en casa otra vez. – Son las dos de la tarde. Vamos a comer.
Juan sleeps little. He likes to have breakfast at 7 o’clock in the morning and practice sports.
– Laura, it’s day already! – Juan says.
– I want to sleep a bit more! – I say. – Don’t you see that I’m tired?
Juan goes to the beach to practice sports, and I sleep a little bit more.
– Are you really going to sleep the whole day? – says Juan who is home again. – Now it’s 2 o’clock. Let’s go to have lunch.
Comer es un buen plan. Los sábados comemos en mi restaurante favorito con amigos. Y después, vamos todos al cine. La película que quiero ver, empieza muy tarde. Pero no pasa nada. Mañana es domingo, y los domingos también son para descansar.
To have lunch is a nice plan. On Saturdays, we have lunch at my favourite restaurant with (our) friends. And then we go to the movies altogether. The film that I want to see starts very late. But it’s ok. Tomorrow is Sunday and Sundays are also there for resting.
